Homes & Interiors Scotland review Shapes restaurant click here.
" Nothing quite prepared me for what was on the other side of the Shapes restauant door. It was like waliking into a Manet painting, but without the top hats. Huge mirrors glistened on deep-toned walls, the table tops were white marble, the bar punctuated by champagne coolers and derrieed ranks of wine. Artful piles of oranges and lemons stood on elaborate console tables. Eden could scarcely have looked more inviting.
When we had re-hinged our jaws, we were forced to notice that not only was this parallel universe beguiling to the eye, it was very, very busy.
We were still gazing around us at the misplaced tarvellers when the menu arrived. A very modern, elegantly simple menu with the main courses frimly focused on grills , but offering an array of salads and super- posh sandwiches for those who were economising with time.
I stared with chilli chicken , mango and avacado salad which was served in a vast white china bowl. The dressing was light and tangy.
Char grilled lamb chops with rosemary and garlic which were perfectly cooked, with sweetly crunchy fat and rosy, dripping meat. Though I have to say I could have eaten another one.
Hence, I ordered cheese to finish and I wondered if the chef had heard my allegation of meanmess, because this selection must have weighed 10oz at least and would certainly have fed three.
A rhubarb creme brulee, two strong expressos and some port helped us contemplate returning to the cinder blocks of the real world."

"Shapes restaurant part of the Shapes furniture shop and auction house. I had reservations about making a journey to Sighthill but was glad I did. Candlelit art nouveau surroundings and discreet friendly service creates a relaxed mood from the start. Fresh ingerdients give the food a wonderful "home cooked" taste and my salmon was mouthwatering."
